Vision

"OUR VISION IS TO DELIVER QUALITY MASS TIMBER CONSTRUCTION SYSTEM TO MASS MARKETS"

-GAETAN ROYER | CEO OF MASSIVE CANADA

MISSION

Massive Canada: mass timber solutions for our sustainable future. Our mission is to make mass timber mainstream. High-quality products that stand the test of time.

VISION

Innovative, very high quality, durable, well-constructed, comfortable spaces to live, work and play, built more quickly. We use wood - a natural, renewable resource which uses up to 20 times less energy in production than steel, locking in carbon for the life of our buildings. We use state-of-the-art technology and patented building systems, building components offsite to reduce our time on the construction site.

Natural and local materials plus innovation equals a sustainable economy. Our vision is better buildings, built efficiently and more affordably with a much smaller environmental footprint, renewing and regenerating as we go. Biophilic response to wood contributes to the well-being of the people who occupy our buildings, naturally. More local jobs. State-of-the-art design. Sustainable living!

VALUES

At Massive, we are committed to using a circular economy lens. That means we are committed to using clean energy and eliminating waste. We are using design to ensure that our products are durable, and composed of materials that can be kept in circulation. Our vision includes the regeneration of the forest we rely on.

We respect the forest and use the least amount of wood possible in our projects. We ensure that we renew and regenerate. We are transparent in our use of the resource and our marketing and do what we say we are going to do. We respect our natural resources and the people we work with. Quality is important to us - we want the people who inhabit our buildings to enjoy their sustainably built space.

Projects around the globe, particularly in Europe, show that construction can indeed move to assembly lines. New buildings can be assembled from prefabricated apartment-size components. Engineered wood from sustainably harvested new growth forests combined with smart design and assembly in a controlled environment creates structures with far fewer greenhouse gases and virtually no waste.

It’s time to retool and rebuild the construction industry. It’s time to get recycling from under the kitchen sink and foster a circular economy on a grand scale, a circular economy the size of an eighteen-storey tower.

A complete rethinking of how we build requires fully integrated architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, energy & code compliant BIM design. It also requires close working relationships with all the players involved in decision-making in the full development cycle, including owners, design professionals, approval authorities, general contractors and builders.

positive impact

Leaders who assess their project through a rigorous process of value engineering will quickly realize that mass timber, off-site manufacturing and Massive Canada’s INTEGRATED BUILDING SYSTEM can save time and money to achieve their goals.

market impact

The growth of prefabricated, engineered wood products around the world is continuing to accelerate. More architects and developers are rallying for prefabricated mass timber instead of concrete and steel, persuaded by its proven success and environmental benefits.

B.C. is well known in North America for being a leader in mass timber innovation, production and usage. BC has more mass timber buildings per capita than any other place in North America and BC leads the country with over 285 mass timber buildings (as calculated by the BC Govt office of Mass Timber Implementation at the end of 2022).

This growing trend is the result of innovations in mass timber systems, enabled by regulatory changes, which allow the structural use of mass wood products to a new degree. The result is that many prefabricated and modular products that use wood composite can provide reliable, affordable, high-performance buildings on an accelerated schedule.

Market forces are aligned with the BC government’s objectives:

1. Better energy efficiency,

2. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions,

3. Boosting our value-added forest economy,

4. Generating good paying jobs for workers in a clean and green economy,

5. Creating economic opportunities for people in every part of the province.

These factors drive demand for mass timber manufacturers like Massive Canada to address water and fire damage, energy efficiencies, durability and the high cost of insurance. The growing market demand for cross-laminated timber (CLT), as outlined by The Canadian Wood Council creates a great climate for investment in the wood industry.

Mass timber uses state-of-the-art technology to glue, nail, dowel and press ordinary lumber together in tight layers. The results are large structural panels, posts, and beams that are lighter than steel and as strong as concrete. Massive Canada is the only manufacturer combining mass timber elements as part of prefabricated, apartment-size modules.

Massive Canada developed strategic relationships and business alliances with elite suppliers and professionals. Massive Canada is actively engaged in development with several projects at various stages of design and implementation to take advantage of a rapidly growing construction market as governments struggle to resolve a housing crisis. Massive Canada is poised to become one of the most iconic mass timber brands.
